Cleaning Campaign at Abbasiya - Baqbouq Beach Nature Reserve as part of the "Sea Without Plastic" Project

As part of the series of projects "Lebanese Civil Society Fights for a Plastic-Free Mediterranean," supported by the Lebanese Environmental Movement and the Lebanese Environment Gathering, aiming to reduce sources of plastic, the Green Southerners Organisation carried out a cleaning campaign at Abbasiya - Baqbouq Beach Nature Reserve as part of the "Sea Without Plastic" project, in cooperation with Abbasiya Municipality, on Friday, 11 June 2021.

This campaign is part of a series of initiatives launched by the Green Southerners since the beginning of the project. More than 2 tons of plastic waste alone have been removed so far. Informative and awareness boards were distributed along with containers for sorting waste along the beach.

The activity was attended by the Mayor of Abbasiya, Mr. Ali Ezzeddine, members of the municipal council, and municipal workers. Special thanks to Action Against Hunger for providing their workers to support the cleaning campaigns throughout this period.
