Wadi Zebqine Exploration and Documentation Hike

The Green Southerners organized their second hike aimed at introducing and preserving Wadi Zebqine, and the first hike dedicated to surveying and documenting the valley as part of preparing a comprehensive study to be submitted to the concerned ministries, the Parliamentary Environmental Committee, and local MPs and municipalities.

Participating in this hike, supervised by the coordinator of the Green Southerners, engineer Wassim Bzeih, along with youths from Zebqine, were agricultural engineer Mr. Mahmoud Tahan, photographer and engineer Mohammad Quteish, social activist and coordinator in the Green Southerners Manal Zaatar, and a friend of the Green Southerners from the Ministry of Economy’s Consumer Protection Group, Mr. Hassan Qaddouh.

After starting at 9:30 AM from Zebqine, the group walked through the Jarran area, then descended from Khallat al-Ma‘asir to the Shaqif al-Sallakh area, then continued toward the Nafkha Spring valley. From there, they proceeded toward the Dalfa Spring and reached the Ain al-Tineh River, which is also close to the Yater boundary. Participants had lunch there before returning from Ain al-Tineh to the Dalfa Spring and then following the valley upward toward Zebqine through the Ras al-Shaqif area, ending back in the town.

The initial documentation survey of the valley has now begun, and it will be followed by visits from a team of specialists to complete the research in a systematic manner.

We thank everyone who contributed and participated in this hike, helping preserve the valley and support efforts to declare it a protected natural area.
