Shabriha – Killing of a Barn Owl

21-1-2021 – Enemies of nature: The individual A.A. from Shabriha, Tyre District, killed a barn owl — a vital species protected under Lebanese law — and not only that, but he also had his five-year-old daughter carry the dead bird, in a violation of her rights. It is worth noting that in November 2017, Green Southerners documented the killing of the Babboq Beach owl, which was regularly seen in the area. Since then, the organisation has released three owls in the region after treatment and rehabilitation, and it is not unlikely that this owl was one of them, although this cannot be confirmed.

The organisation will take legal action against the perpetrator and has informed the security forces of the available information.
