Faara Valley – Killing of a Striped Hyena
Faara Valley – Killing of a Striped Hyena
Ali Hassan killed an endangered striped hyena — a species protected under Lebanese law — in Faara Valley, Baalbek District, on the evening of Tuesday, 14/4/2020, using a hunting rifle. He then published photos boasting about the act on his personal account. The case is now in the hands of the Internal Security Forces. What did you gain from killing it?!!
The striped hyena is one of the most important wild animals in Lebanon. It has been native to the region for thousands of years and plays a vital ecological role by relying primarily on scavenging, which helps maintain the health of wilderness and rural areas. It is also a peaceful animal that avoids people and noise.
