Green Southerners Submit Formal Request to the Ministry of Culture to Protect and Classify Adloun Beach
Green Southerners submitted a formal letter to the Ministry of Culture following the continuation of works on the beach in violation of the law, outlining their vision for the protection and classification of Adloun Beach. This vision focuses specifically on the area from Mina al-Zibl, by isolating the sites located within the tourist marina area that have already been damaged, and protecting those located outside it, which together form a single, continuous site. It also extends southward to Abu Zaid Bay, with particular and urgent emphasis on the stretch from Mina al-Zibl to Al-Sayyada Cave (the three coves).
These areas constitute the direct historical waterfront of ancient Adloun and contain numerous archaeological remains. The proposal serves as a prelude to conducting excavations that should cover the entire archaeological zone of Adloun, regardless of the damage caused by the marina project, with the aim of “assessing the damage” and protecting the remaining coastline.
We hope that the esteemed members of the Adloun Municipality will contribute to these efforts to preserve the remaining parts of the coast, classify them, and declare the area a natural and archaeological reserve.
